Mostly, when you make a decision while playing poker, you end up at a flop. It is not solely dependent on your cards or the money pot, but also on how many cards the opponent is left with and what is his position.
In a head up position, if you are playing against an aggressive player, who has been playing his chips left and right then you are, in fact, left for exceptionally few options. If you are on a flop and you hit your cards, then your best bet would be check giving to your aggressive and dynamic opponent to fire out the bet. At this moment, you have the option to raise the opponent or just smoothing the call in order to bring him more on turn. Though, you need to be more cautious, and vigilant at this point as the opponent would be waiting for a chance to catch and beat you, so do not risk your game by playing slow.
If you do not hit back than you are left with only two options, one is to bet, and the other one is to check. If you had hardly made it through the pre-flop, then it is better to check, hoping for a free card, which can get something in your hand. If you are certain that the opponent is not left with anything, then you need to throw out a raise 2-3times to bring down the pot.
In another scenario, if you would prefer the pre-flop option then it is better to test the fire. Most of the times, it happens that the opponents toss it all in, but if he raises then you must get enough notion that he does not have anything except trying this ‘ALL IN’ approach to get him out. However, you need to be careful as if you are going to make a wrong read and perception it can cost you the entire poker tournament life.
